October/2022 Brawl Stars Balancing – Buffs and Nerfs

The next Brawl Stars update was already revealed over the weekend, and with it, we will have a new brawler, the Halloween theme in several skins, a presentation of season 15 and much other news. And in that, we also have a new round of balance changes, with considerable changes!

They are also bringing several Bug Fixes to the game, including optimizations for older devices.

Balance Changes

This time 4 Brawlers will have their effectiveness improved, including Gus and 4 effectiveness reductions. See below for all details here on the site: Brawlers that will have improved effectiveness (BUFF)

Meg

  • Life Points Increase (from 2,200 to 2,300)

Even after the most recent buffs, Meg still hasn’t found her place. Letting her play a little riskier in her small form should allow her to reach her mechanical form more often and, as a result, be a bigger threat.

Barley

  • Basic attack damage increased (from 700 to 760)

Barley’s drinks have been less potent for some time now; it’s time to change the recipe.

Eve

  • Basic attack damage increased (from 700 to 760)

Gus

  • Amount of healing and shield scaled with power level:
  • Cure: 1.000 → 800 ~ 1200
  • Shield: 3,600 → 2,600 ~ 3,900
  • Super projectile speed increased (from 3200 to 3600)
  • The super will pass through walls.
  • “Explosive Haunt” Accessory damage reduction (from 1800 to 1400)
  • “Soul Exchange” Accessory health reduction from 30% to 15%

Gus’ power was tricky to measure, but after the meta, it’s clear he’s a little weak. It’s largely his Super’s fault, as no one wants to risk using it and failing their teammate. Making the Super faster to hit his teammates more easily and allowing him to go through walls will allow for great team play and make Gus the support he’s supposed to be.

We also made his heal and shield scale with his power level, as he was very strong at lower but weaker at higher power levels. This change means he gets slightly weaker at lower power levels and stronger at higher power levels.

 Brawlers that will have reduced effectiveness (NERF)

Poco

  • Basic attack damage reduction (from 800 to 760)

Poco’s new songs are pretty deadly, and while we like a good fiesta, it’s clear that we have to tweak his damage a little.

Sam

  • Reduced health recovery with Star Power “Immediate Heal” (from 30 to 20)

Even though Sam has a very high skill level, his Star Power healing proved very strong. Adjusting it should allow more Brawlers to take it down.

Stu

  • Added HP Deterioration in the “Thruster” Attachment

Added deterioration to spawnable Accessories for consistency with others in the game

Bea

  • Added HP Deterioration in the “Slushy” Accessory

Bug Fixes

  • The improved game performance on older devices
  • Fixed an issue where Explosives would not detonate after the end of the round
    Example: Piper’s grenades after scoring
  • Fixed an issue where Janet’s fire indicator would become invalid after using the “VIP Access” Accessory.
  • Fixed an issue where Janet’s Accessory visual effect persisted after being teleported.
  • Fixed various issues with Reactions (Including missing sounds)
  • Fixed Poison Belle’s visual effect when she fires.
  • Fixed an issue where Local Leaders would not update when players/clubs changed regions.
  • Fixed an issue where empty Clubs took up places in Leaderboards.
  • Fixed an issue where inactive club leaders would not automatically switch after 14 days of inactivity
